Each record in the Standard Deductions Detail File represents one line of the table for the deduction displayed in the header. The following sections describe the fields on the table portion of the standard deductions screen.
Minimum
The Minimum field gives a lower dollar boundary on the adjusted gross pay. If the adjusted gross pay is greater than the minimum boundary and less than or equal to the maximum boundary, the current record is applied as the table deduction.
Maximum
The Maximum field gives an upper dollar boundary on the adjusted gross pay. If the adjusted gross pay is greater than the minimum boundary and less than or equal to the maximum boundary, the current record is applied as the table deduction. If Maximum is zero, there is no upper boundary for this entry. Any adjusted gross pay over the minimum boundary uses this entry.
Flags
The flags field gives the type of table deduction to be done. The valid entries are:
Flags Deduction
f Fixed amount
fp Fixed amount + percentage of gross
p Percentage of gross
po Percentage of gross over minimum
fpo Fixed amount + percentage of gross over minimum
Rate
The Rate field gives the percentage to be used for percentage calculations. This field is ignored for fixed amount only deductions.
Amount
The Amount field gives the dollar amount to be deducted over the indicated time period. This field is ignored for percentage only deductions.
Limit
The Limit field gives the dollar limit for percentage deductions. If the limit value is zero, no limit is assumed. Unlike non-table deductions, the limit for percentage deductions is based on the deduction amount not on the gross pay.
Freq
The Frequency field tells how often a fixed amount is to be deducted or how often the percentage limit should be applied.
