DBFIND C-3

NAME

dbfind - get named database description

SYNOPSIS

#include DB *dbfind (dbname) char *dbname;

DESCRIPTION

Dbfind searches the C/Base database catalog for the given database. If found, dbfind returns a pointer to a structure describing the database. If the database does not exist, dbfind returns a NULL pointer and sets the RMS error message to a description of the reason for not finding the database. If dbname is an empty string or a NULL pointer, the environment variable DBASE names the database. The structure returned by dbfind is defined in the include file .

SEE ALSO

dbfindn(C-3), dbopen(C-3) DIAGNOSTICS A value of NULL is returned if the database is not defined in the C/Base database catalog.

NOTES

The returned value points to static data whose contents are overwritten with every call.
