40.1 Introduction

The design of the Purchase Order system can be altered, but certain guidelines must be followed to prevent disaster. This chapter attempts to give some guidelines as to what can and cannot be changed in the Purchase Order system.

The main tool to use in changing the Purchase Order system is bookkit. With bookkit, you can change files, change screens, change reports, or change menus. Some systems are sold as Runtime only, and do not include the bookkit command. Customers with this type of system must contact their dealer for changes.

Bookkit is a special DOS version of toolkit designed to make modification of the accounting system easier. This chapter does not discuss the details of making changes. Instead, general ideas and rules are given as to what changes can and cannot be made. Users unfamiliar with either bookkit or toolkit should refer to the C/Base Tutorial Manual and the C/Base Reference Manual.
