8.6.10 Expressions

An expression is a formula, i.e., a sequence of variables, constants, operators, and parentheses following algebraic rules. Expressions are typeless, i.e., strings are converted to numbers for arithmetic operations, and numbers are treated as strings for string operations. Expressions and their intermediate results must be representable as a character string of less than 256 characters.

Expressions can only be used when the built-in menu commands are enabled.
