13.1 Introduction

All C/Base programs allow the application developer to control how data values are formatted. Format strings are used to convert data values between their ASCII and binary representations. These formats provide a simple, consistent, and convenient means of both displaying and entering data values. By allowing the developer more control over the formatting of data values, the C/Base programs and applications developed using C/Base, can be customized to suit the personal tastes of a user or the general rules and language of a particular country.
